This week NHEHS has three recommendations for you! Our first recommendation is Hidden Figures. Hidden Figures is about three ambitious and bright African-American women who are interested in science. They get invited to work for NASA on John Glenn’s space launch. They really impacted this mission and without them, the mission would have failed. The movie was made to give these women the recognition they deserved for the first time since the launch. We really recommend this film because there are not enough movies like Hidden Figures that give recognition to people who have had an important role in projects that have changed the world, but have been forgotten. This film is all about female empowerment and brings tears to our eyes when we think about the challenges that women, especially African-American women had to face at the time.
